Houston, Texas — June 19th, 2025 — The HBCU Movement, a trailblazer in professional basketball, announces a groundbreaking step forward as it returns to the National Basketball League-United States (NBL-US) for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. This strategic move aims to propel the Movement’s brand internationally and contribute to the league’s growing reputation on the global basketball stage.
The NBL-US, entering its 7th season, has already established itself as a prominent force within the United States and beyond. The league has distinguished itself by sending multiple players to compete internationally and recently solidified its global presence by becoming the official partner league of the NBL-Philippines. Furthermore, in an unprecedented move, the NBL-US has partnered with NBL-Solomon Islands to host the NBL-International Cup in August 2026, showcasing the NBL-US’s global expansion.
Lenard Taylor, General Manager for the HBCU Movement, expresses his enthusiasm for this strategic move. “Returning to the NBL-US marks a significant milestone for the HBCU Movement. After going undefeated and winning the 2024 Championship, this partnership aligns with our mission to not only showcase the exceptional talent within Historically Black Colleges & Universities but also to extend our impact globally.
